History

History of those ancient public baths goes back to the Sassanid era where ancient Sassanians built public baths and recreation areas in the region. The reason behind building such public baths is to avail relaxing and rest centers for merchants who used to travel crossing the sea routs and deserts in very long distance. Merchants and travelers then could visit those public baths to rest from an exhausting journey. In those baths, some practitioners offer people treatment with medical herbs and essential oils for joints and skin diseases

The public baths of Kookherd were also called (The Dumb Doctor) , strangely enough, those practitioners we not talking and were treating patients while being silent. It is worth mentioning that Kukherd baths flourished at that time and became a major attraction for merchants, governors and public. Although it is a sign of an ancient era, still some current public baths around in the area maintain old characteristics of ancient baths
